It is time to put final touches to the kitchen. Cabinets were sourced from Ikea. Appliances were purchased on Labor Day sale at Lowes.
As in most items from Ikea, cabinets came in flat boxes to be assembled. A lesson long learned, do not second guess Ikea’s instructions. Read or follow diagram to the letter, all will come out spectacular. I choose to assemble and install cabinet boxes first. Then added doors and trim. Door handles are yet to be installed. They sometimes get in the way when more work is to be done.
Microwave exhaust vent oven was a little challenging to install. For whatever reasons the hanging holes did not line up from template. Maybe, it shifted. Because the cabinet line was moved a few inches to accommodate a corner carousel, the old venting did not line up. Most slight shift in vents can be reconnected with a piece of flex vent. Not this one. Adjusting swivel elbow with multiple ribs was modified with one rib removed for space. After some minor blood and cuts over a night of swearing and frustration, the two pieces finally met each other.
Range slid into place nicely with no hitches. Dishwasher was straight forward install. However, since this condo unit will not have a refrigerator at showing or at least that is the plan for now, a finished cover panel matching the cabinet doors had to be installed.
Next, the granite company will take a template and fabricate the countertop. Moving on the the final room, Master Suite.
